Thanks Rebecca Black, for destroying Friday's good name forever!

Some mornings you just wake up feeling sparkly, and today is like that for me. After an event for work last night, Jake and I visited a small local park. The park is landscaped with thick purple plants, enveloping trees, and benches for relaxing (made of recycled materials!). It's a beautiful green space in an under-appreciated urban area of Columbus. The park a result of dedication and energy from a team of neighbors, on a site that used to be a home- a house, rather, and one that was falling apart, boarded up. I've been to the park on a separate occasion, but what made it special for me this time was Jake's reaction. He was impressed and it was genuine. When I asked him to take me to this park he'd never heard of he, not surprisingly, didn't jump out of his shoes with excitement. Once we got there, I felt like we were both inspired and happy to have driven out of the way to breathe it in before the sun went down. We are both attracted to urban living in some ways, and it's inspiring to see those neighbors taking initiative, seeing the potential for beauty, and providing love to their community. As for Jake and I, it feels good to be out in a city we both love and enjoying the same thing about it.

This morning I biked to work just before 7 a.m. I'm looking forward to the rest of my Friday.
