Pain is Beauty

Yesterday I wore ankle weights on my wrists at Zumba. I always complain that as fun as it is, Zumba is not a good workout for the arms. Then I remembered that my sister OH SO KINDLY gave me ANKLE weights for Christmas last year (a thinly veiled statement about what I should be doing with my spare time...) and that I had never used them.

Sitting nicely in their box, I retrieved the ankle weights from my closet and fastened the Velcro straps around my delicate lady-wrists.

"Wow," says I, "Now I really feel like a champion."

I practiced a few flaily movements to test their stability, fearing they would fly off and injure friends (less frightened for my Zumbenemies) and knew that THESE are the accessory I've been waiting for all my life.

So off to Zumba I trekked. I looked like a middle aged woman with a coin skirt. It was Ugly. The weights really slowed down my movements, so I seemed a bit...challenged. My arms and shoulders, however, are pretty sore today. The Ankle-Wrist weights worked! Additionally, the weights were nice and moist from my sweats and today my wrist bones are bruised.

Pain is beauty.
