Nail Polish Morals

World. You do not need $48 nail polish. Please explain a scenario in which that is necessary. A $48 manicure, ok FINE. You're paying for the experience of being pampered. You're paying for lotions and top coats and some great conversation with a) the person with the nail-doing know-how or b) the housewife sitting next to you.

Oh no, is my poor showing? Perhaps. Perhaps there are a good number of people who really believe they need $48 nail polish. Who can't fathom the idea of purchasing weak, ugly, poor people nail polish. For example, Essie. Which is $8/bottle. Which I still find to be more money than necessary. Because nail polish is so temporary. One application is not meant to be worn for months at a time- that's sort of the appeal isn't it? That you can change your look on a whim? That you can portray a different image of yourself from one day to the next?

Do I misunderstand nail polish? Now I'm questioning my nail polish beliefs. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? Pish posh. I will not allow myself to be taken hostage by nail polish etiquette, and the $48 nail polish buyers who think, "that poor girl. She just doesn't even know the joys! She obviously doesn't understand the principles and purposes of nail polishing!".
