Science

Over the weekend, I babysat for a brother/sister duo who are 10 and 12. Those ages are perfect for at-home science if you ask me.

It was fulfilling to see them both get so excited about the reactions- we chose a vinegar and baking soda project, the lately popular "magic milk" and Oobleck.

The vinegar and baking soda included glitter and food coloring. When the elements reacted there was a huge blast of color and a chorus of "Whoaaaa!".

The big hit of the night was Oobleck- I remembered making this in elementary school and knew it would be the perfect project.

Recipe:
1c Corn Starch
.5c water
6 drops food coloring

We mixed it together with a plastic spoon and chose green food coloring. This crazy substance moves differently depending on how you touch it- a soft touch makes it gooey and fluid, but a sharp touch makes it solid and immovable.

The kids literally spent an two hours playing with it. It can be a little messy, so their wide counter top was great, but we tossed it and oozed it and kept it overnight for more playing the next day.
