Music Appreciation- Lily Allen

Ok, so a few things about Lily Allen. I had never listened to her until I started dating Jake. All I knew about her was that Smile song and that she was a hot mess in all the tabloids. But as soon as I listened to her on my own, I sort of fell in love. Initially, I'm not sure what pulled me in. Maybe the Pop Music sound, or maybe her easy voice-she doesn't strain or belt. It's airy and easy to listen to.

I listen to her intermittenly, when she comes on my iPod or when I'm at work and have trouble choosing a Pandora station. I decided that one of the things that endears her to me is her completely desperate desire to be liked. Through her lyrics, she seems so lonely and hurt...like she just wants someone to take care of her (read: daddy issues). Her songs aren't especially profound, but they generally seem quite real and personal.

Also, sappy me wants to tell you that the first time I knew for SURE I was in love with Jake was when he was singing along at the top of his lungs to a Lily Allen song, completely goofy and unconcerned. I don't remember which one, but I remember looking at him and thinking "Oh my god, who is this person?" and totally loving it.
