Mikey-Mike is really a catch and takes care of me. He's a great partner.
After listening to this podcast, I felt inspired to be more intentional in thanking him for all the ways he makes my life easier and better. One date doesn't equal folding 96 loads of laundry, but I hoped it would help him to feel appreciated and loved.
Following the "formula" from the podcast, I formally invited him out for a date. "Are you free on Thursday? I'd like to take you on a date."
Early in the week, this card was purchased from the grocery store and I wrote a little note.
Last night, we got home from work and I told him to change into his Ohio State gear- we were going to the OSU v. Maryland basketball game! An OSU basketball game is especially special because I don't care for basketball, and we rarely watch or go to any games. I knew that this activity would be one he would enjoy, and not just participate in alongside his fiancee.
Once we got in the car (I drove), I handed him the card. He read it and called me The Sap Master. I guess my note was a little mushy?
We stopped for dinner at The Varsity Club, an Ohio State favorite, where we had beer and pizza. So college!
After devouring the large pizza, we walked across the bridge to the arena. It was snowing; we were holding hands and cuddling against the cold. So romantic, until Mike declared that the pelting snow felt like Keebler Elves hurling snowballs at his face...
At the arena, we found our seats we were excited to cheer on the team and see them to victory.
One out of One Mike's agree that this date was a success. It felt special to plan something for him. We laughed a lot and the one-on-one time gave us a fresh opportunity to connect.
