Touchdown!

I generally think wedding showers are pretty silly and a little greedy, so when Heather and Jess offered to host one for Mike and I, my anxiety level jumped.

At first, we were hesitant, but Heather came up with a great idea. Why not have this couples shower at a bar? And to follow up, why not host it during the Super Bowl? Super Bowl Sunday is such a time of gathering anyway, that it would be the perfect excuse to get people together to celebrate our upcoming wedding?

A great chance for his friends to meet my friends, and to spend a little time with people we don't necessary see as much as we'd like.

Touch down!

Heather and Jess send a themed invite through Paperless Post, found a few low-key activities that could be played throughout the evening and rented space at a place we've all enjoyed for the great beer and variety of appetizers.

SuperBowl Commercial Bingo
Prop Bet Sheet
Ring Toss (with blow up hats and rings!)

We called "time out" on gifts.

If you're looking for a creative and casual way to celebrate an engagement, I recommend taking a page from Heather and Jess's book. Drinks for those who wanted them, good food for all, a common activity and comfortable ways to interact, even if you didn't know everyone at the party.

This was my first of FOUR, yes F-O-U-R bridal showers, and the others will have stiff competition!
